Many illnesses and disorders affect how your body removes waste and toxins. The organs involved in this are your kidneys, ureters, skin, bladder, etc… Problems with any of these can affect the appearance, concentration, and content of your urine abnormally such as the presence of bacteria in the urine that may be detected by urinalysis (urine culture). Urine culture help to diagnose common diseases, such as urinary tract infections, kidney disorders, liver problems, diabetes, or other metabolic conditions, also it may detect bacteria with no associated disease or symptoms because of the rapid growth of the normal flora in the vagina or external urethra, however, urine culture should be done. N.B; drugs can affect the result of urine analysis. Generally, more than 100,000/ml of one organism reflects significant bacteriuria. Multiple organisms reflect contamination. However, the presence of any organism in catheterized or suprapubic tap specimens should be considered significant. | en_US |
